My son’s pre-school in Georgia was at a church and the chapel was right down the hall from his classroom. If those chapel walls could talk …
As Moms, most of us have been there. That place where exhaustion, effort and emotional challenges leave you on your knees.
Remembering Where You’ve Been
I just discovered a sticky note from my little guy’s Pre-K teacher during that time – a wonderful woman who made a big difference in our lives.
My little guy was 4-years-old and obsessed with dinosaurs. It read:
(He) can finish this at home. He was too distracted with the dinosaurs and we wanted him to complete his family house.

I don’t know what made me save this in my wallet. Probably because I knew, some day, he’d be a paleontologist or a director at a natural history museum and we could laugh about it!
Blessed with a Mother’s Grace

During this time, I had a friend – a fellow Mom – who never let me fall too far. She’d surprise me with fresh picked flowers on my stoop. She invited my son to her son’s birthday party and she didn’t judge us when we left early.
How Can I Lift You Up
One year and 1200 miles away, there is another Mom who always seems to know just what to say.
Her daughter is in my son’s class and their presence in our lives feels like God’s hand.
She has such grace in the way that she moves through parenting. It’s not in the “Jackie O” perfection kind of way (though she is lovely!). It’s in the “Mother of 4, I’ve been there, How can I lift you up” kind of way. That’s the kind of grace a lot of us moms need in our lives.

I don’t know her well. She doesn’t know our story. Though, in some ways, it feels like she innately understands.
Isn’t that so soulfully wonderful? Another human being who is there for you without even really knowing the positive impact that she is making.
That is grace and such a gift to another mom.
Truly,
Julie
Your. Soulful. Spaces.
Isn’t it amazing that there is always a “that mom” whenever and wherever, doing whatever to lift us up?
Yes! It’s God’s hand for sure. I feel like all of us could name those moms that do this for us!
