Atlanta Airport Scavenger Hunt For Kids (VIDEO included)
A four hour layover at Atlanta Airport – with kids – no thank you! But, sometimes, we just don’t control everything. I had just gotten off the plane and I immediately Googled, “What to do with kids in Atlanta Airport?” Not much popped up, so my son and I set out to create the best scavenger hunt for kids – to save other families from suffering through a long layover.
“I never would have guessed that we could have so much fun on a long layover! We laughed our way through terminals, up escalators, and on train rides as we created an adventure for young travelers.”

We set out to find the coolest things in Atlanta Airport and they had to be cool for kids. No Mom stuff allowed! (Nursing moms, we spotted at least TWO Mamava pods for privacy if you need to breastfeed, but you didn’t hear it here!) And, NO saying, “no running” or “we have to use our indoor voice”. This was about having the best time in a place that can bring out the worst in families.
Off you go and be sure to follow the rules!
This adventure has something for every age.
- TRASH CAN THAT OPENS WHEN YOU WAVE AT IT
- REAL LONGHORNS
- KIDS ART EXHIBIT
- FRONT ROW SEAT ON THE TRAIN
- NATURE SHINE CEILING (named by my little guy)
- GUMMIE BRAINS
- BIKE PATROL OFFICER
The whole adventure cost me $3.37 for the candy at Savannah’s Candy Kitchen, but it gave us so much more!
We were both exhausted by the end, which meant waiting 3 more hours wasn’t as painful.
We both had gotten some much needed exercise for our bodies.
And, we’d laughed so much that our mental well being was a solid 10 out of 10.
Most importantly, I showed my 7-year-old how to make the best of, what many would quantify as, a difficult situation. That’s a lesson that I hope he remembers forever.
